首波產品將鎖定下一代企業伺服器與資料中心應用，推出大容量 DDR4 記憶體。

半導體製造商 Samsung Electronics 宣布開始大量生產 DDR4 記憶體模組，而首要目標則是瞄準 2014 年開始轉換規格的新一代伺服器、資料中心平台，業主將能夠在需要大量擴展的伺服器平台上，獲得 DDR4 記憶體高性能、低能耗的特性所帶來的好處。

Samsung Electronics 將率先推出 4Gb 的記憶體顆粒，使用 20nm 製程打造 (20nm 表示 20~29nm 製程皆有可能，但以目前進展來看，該公司較有可能使用 20nm 製程進行量產)，以供 16GB、32GB 記憶體模組使用。

目前的記憶體模組主流容量為 8GB，而製程部分則是 30nm，相較之下 DDR4 記憶體模組的確有很大的突破。

在推出 DDR3 16GB 系列模組後，Samsung Electroncis 將在 2013 下半年繼續擴展高階伺服器市場，持續推出大容量記憶體模組，至於 2014 年將會轉向 DDR4 平台，並且推動 32GB 以提升自家優勢。

Intel 不論是在企業或是消費應用端的處理器，都會在 2014 下半年度開始導入 DDR4 規範，如過去 DDR2 轉換至 DDR3，這次的轉變也不會有向下相容的情況。
