繼智慧型手機之後，智慧型電視也慢慢的蓬勃發展中。根據專業顯示器市調機構DisplaySearch調查顯示，未來12個月內可能購買連網功能智慧電視的消費者，新興市場購買意願約為成熟市場的2倍。

DisplaySearch的調查結果指出，未來12個月將購買連網功能智慧電視的消費者中，巴西、中國大陸等新興市場用戶購買意願比例為71%，但歐美國家法國、英國等成熟市場僅為37%。

未來智慧型電視的發展關鍵，在於線上搜索、網頁流覽、視頻點播(VOD)、提供用戶在娛樂、資訊獲取，及線上購物等網路服務，但較為熱門的雙人3D遊戲及雲端儲存，反而最不受智慧型電視使用者關注。

另外，許多電視品牌廠商持續推動智慧型電視的發展，增加應用商店程式、視訊會議等功能，但新興市場消費者並不認為這些功能會影響購買意願。
