猩猩會游泳 科學家跌破眼鏡

（法新社約翰尼斯堡14日電） 科學家今天表示，他們很驚訝地觀察到，1隻黑猩猩與1隻大猩猩會潛水游泳，因為一般多認為靈長類動物早已喪失這項技能。

演化研究員雷納托•班德（Renato Bender）和妻子妮可（Nicole）拍攝兩隻在美國豢養的猩猩時，有這項驚人發現。

南非金山大學解剖學院（University of theWitwatersrand's School of Anatomical Sciences）的班德說：「當黑猩猩古柏（Cooper）一再跳入游泳池，而且看起來似乎很享受時，我們非常驚訝。」古柏被養在密蘇里州。

班德說：「被認為非常怕水的動物出現這種行為，真是讓人跌破眼鏡。」

班德夫婦也觀察到，1隻養在南卡羅來納州私人動物園的大猩猩蘇莉亞（Suryia）會游泳。

許多動物園會使用護城河來限制黑猩猩、大猩猩、紅毛猩猩等靈長類逃脫，牠們通常會因冒險涉水而溺斃。

相較於大多數哺乳類動物天生會游狗爬式，人類與猩猩必須靠後天學習。

班德夫婦表示，人類飼養的古柏與蘇莉亞，游的是類似我們的蛙式。

伯恩大學（University of Bern）的妮可說：「人類學上，大猩猩的水中行為總被大大忽略。儘管我們人類對靈長類的研究已經十分透徹，但在過去猩猩游泳總缺乏科學解釋。」（譯者：中央社陳怡君）
