在近期與分析師所進行會議中，原本擔任微軟Windows Phone部門高層，目前於作業系統事業群任職的Terry Myerson透露未來Windows RT系統將有可能朝向與Windows Phone平台整合方向發展。

根據微軟近期與分析師所進行會議所透露說法，目前於作業系統事業群帶領軟體開發的Terry Myerson透露為軟將針對其下作業系統提供通用App平台，亦即將使開方者可透過API設計各式App套用於包含Windows、Windows RT、Windows Phone或Xbox平台，同時將可讓使用者於不同硬體設備使用相同App。

而就Terry Myerson的說法，目前手機使用模式已經逐漸導入平板使用體驗，或許未來將有可能將Windows Phone平台導入平板使用體驗 (例如近期將公布的6吋Lumia 1520)，或者亦有可能將Windows Phone與Windows RT進行整合，之後將能藉由平台互通而提昇Windows RT平台裝置使用率等發展。

先前其實有不少市場看法，認為微軟將整合Windows 8與Windows Phone兩款作業系統平台，不過微軟方面並未對此做正向回應。而在先前宣布收購Nokia裝置與服務事業前，微軟也曾傳出有備用計畫準備推出「Surface Phone」的可能性。但以此次與分析師進行會議中顯示，微軟或許可能傾向在ARM裝置平台採取整合Windows RT與Windows Phone平台的作法。

目前還不確定微軟未來是否確定將朝此方向發展，但先前有消息指出第二代Surface系列將在10月下旬公布，或許屆時將可確認微軟後續發展策略。
