Google 已準備好向 Google TV 說 Bye Bye。

在 Google TV 推出 3 年之後，Google 已做好讓 Google TV 品牌退場的準備，並將它的智慧型電視平台移往 Android 系統上，這暗示了 Google 已承認 Google TV 的失敗，將改以 Android 進攻使用者客廳。根據已推出 Google TV 產品多年的公司高層表示，Google 的確將放棄 Google TV 品牌，改推「Android TV」。

一些廠商已經轉換到新平台，像是 Sony 上月推出的 Bravia 電視棒就基於最新的 Google TV 版本開發，不過在 Sony 的新聞稿中並未提及此點，而僅表示「該裝置將全功能的 Google 服務帶入你的電視」。

目前的 Google TV 系統是基於 Android 3.2 Honeycomb，不過之前 Google 曾表示將會讓 Google TV 所使用的版本，趕上現在手機所使用的 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean，也許改稱 Android TV 之後，Google 智慧型電視平台將和手機平台漸趨一致。
