儘管iPhone 5S持續熱賣，卻有媒體爆出部分iPhone 5S的電池續航力未達水準。蘋果向《紐約時報》坦承，公司在製程中傳出問題，導致電池壽命較短，間接縮短手機的續航力；該公司也承諾，將會寄發全新的手機給「受災」用戶。

蘋果發言人布魯爾(Teresa Brewer)說，公司最近發現部份的iPhone 5S存在製造缺陷，這將導致手機變得更耗電、電池也需要更多的時間才能充飽；目前蘋果已經在聯絡這些用戶，屆時會提供全新的iPhone 5S來換回問題產品。

報導指出，蘋果並未透露問題手機的數量，據估大概有幾千台手機受到影響。科技媒體AllThingsD則表示，蘋果的處理方式是主動聯絡顧客，藉此推估受影響的機台應該不多。

蘋果在9月份推出了iPhone 5S及iPhone 5C，兩者的電池評價相距不遠，待機時間均為250小時左右。
