針對Google即將公布的Android 4.4「KitKat」，相關消息指出新版作業系統除將應用於新款手持裝置產品，也將整合應用於穿戴式裝置與電視平台，並且將提供系統最佳化調整，僅需512MB記憶體即可流暢運作，並且將提供全新設計的全螢幕顯示模式。

根據Jessica Lessin共筆部落格作者Amir Efrati表示，相關文件說明Android 4.4「KitKat」將針對手持裝置產品系統進行最佳化，提供僅需512MB記憶體即可流暢運作，讓多數的Android App執行硬體需求降低，藉此讓入門等級Android裝置市場加速擴展。

另一方面，新版Android 4.4除如先前傳聞將涵蓋電視平台裝置應用，未來也會具體應用在穿戴式裝置，並且將進一步強化NFC、Bluetooth與紅外線等技術應用。而針對系統介面設計部分，新版Android 4.4也將提供全新全畫面顯示模式，讓開發者可針對設計需求打造全畫面操作介面，並且自動隱藏Android系統操作導覽介面。

目前Google方面尚未證實Android 4.4具體發表時間，不過多數傳聞均認為Android 4.4與Nexus 5將於美國時間10月31日發表，並且將在11月1日於Google Play上架銷售，而電信業者將在11月8日起開放搭配資費銷售。

至於台灣地區則傳出將由LG與Google共同舉辦新機發表活動，但目前仍未有具體消息公布。
