在接下來預計釋出更新的Windows Phone 8.1中，微軟有可能加入自家語音助理功能「Cortana」，而相關搜尋運作將與自家Bing技術整合。此外，新版更新也可能加入包含全新訊息提示中心、動態磚同時多組選擇等功能。

根據ZDnet網站報導指出，微軟目前正著手準備自家語音助理系統「Cortana (註)」，將以自家搜尋引擎Bing作為技術支撐，並且具備適應學習能力，將隨著使用率越高反應更為精準的答案搜尋。

除此之外，微軟預計未來也會陸續將「Cortana」導入Windows平台與Xbox平台使用，而「Cortana」預計將會先行應用在新版Windows Phone平台。

註：「Cortana」為微軟工作室製作的《最後一戰 (Halo)》中所出現角色，主要以人工智慧形式輔助遊戲角色士官長完成任務。

此外，根據Windows-Phone.pl網站報導指出，新版Windows Phone將支援全新訊息提示中心，並且加入動態磚多組同時選取等功能。
