為何微軟帳戶的密碼都限制在16字元內？

微軟對於用戶的帳戶密碼都有個不得超過16個字元的限制，其實微軟Outlook團隊指出，由於目前網路犯罪與駭客攻擊都是採用釣魚、埋木馬在惡意軟體等，密碼長度實際上並無多大的意義。

“透過我們的研究發現，在應對網路犯罪者採取的多種帳戶時，密碼的唯一性比長度更加重要。當然我們也同意密碼越長越好。不過我們發現，絕大多數攻擊都是通過釣魚、惡意軟體感染電腦，或是從第三方網站收集密碼，長密碼對這些攻擊並無實際的防範效用。” 　　

微軟表示16個字元長度限制已沿用多年，至於網路安全專家對於密碼長度增加的需求，對於微軟的軟體應用並不是急迫且必要的，而且就算密碼加長也要導入所有微軟產品才能達成標準化的準則，這點是目前密碼長度維持16字元內限制的主要原因。
