針對網路上常見的DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service)攻擊，Google將推出自身「Project Shield」計畫，將協助中小型網站藉由Google資源發揮抵禦此類網路攻擊風險，並且免除網站停擺危機。

Google透露，過去曾經與特定網站如Balatarin、Aymta等合作「Project Shield」計畫，藉由Google旗下伺服器資源協助抵禦外部DDoS攻擊，讓用於安全監控、社群互動等網站服務伺服器不會因為攻擊而造成停擺現象。

目前Google將對外開放申請測試「Project Shield」計畫，讓更多中小型網站能透過Google資源降低網路攻擊風險，並且保持本身網站運作正常。

DDoS：全名為Distributed Denial of Service，亦即網路上常見分散式阻斷服務攻擊，主要透過網路上多組電腦同時針對特定目標伺服器發動密集式連入攻擊，造成目標伺服器系統及網路頻寬無法承受大量連入需求而造成當機停擺，常見手法會合併殭屍病毒讓多台受感染電腦一同進行攻擊。

另一方面，Google也揭曉即時動態呈現的全球網路攻擊統計地圖，顯示各地區發出攻擊，或者遭受攻擊相關數據統計。

從相關統計數據來看，最頻繁受到攻擊的是美國，而最多發出網路攻擊行為的則是荷蘭，而中國地區雖然也在近期有集中頻繁的網路攻擊發出現象，但本身也受到明顯網路攻擊。
