先前SCEA手持與家用電玩主機行銷副總John Koller明白表示，搭載12GB快閃記憶體儲存模組的PlayStation 3主機將不會在北美市場推出。不過就近期消息則指出，部分北美市場零售通路已經有此款主機上市銷售消息。

根據Engadget英文主站報導內容，指出加拿大零售通路Future Shop，以及美國境內Kmart均出現搭載12GB快閃記憶體儲存模組的PlayStation 3主機上市消息。而先前PlayStation Lifestyle網站也曾報導指出，此款PlayStation 3主機將於8月18日分別於美國、加拿大市場上市，同時實際價格將是美金199.99元。

目前搭載12GB快閃記憶體儲存模組的PlayStation 3主機，主要針對歐洲與香港市場推出，而先前SCEA手持與家用電玩主機行銷副總John Koller明白表示此款主機不會在北美市場推出 (可能考量新款PlayStation 4今年將在北美市場優先推出)，但看起來SCEA市場策略將有180度轉變。

不過，以目前搭載500GB硬碟的PlayStation 3主機，在北美市場售價再加美金70元即可預購包含《俠盜獵車手》的遊戲、主機同捆組，或者是購買包含《祕境探險3》與PlayStation Plus一年會員服務的遊戲、主機同捆組 (主機硬碟容量為250GB)，再加上PlayStation 4也即將在今年進入北美市場，搭載12GB快閃記憶體儲存模組的PlayStation 3主機是否能進一步吸引北美市場玩家，可能還有待觀察。
