在證實將於10月18日 (台灣時間為10月17日晚間)全面釋出Windows 8.1更新後，微軟目前也針對OEM合作夥伴提供RTM版本，預計首波搭載Windows 8.1作業系統的硬體產品將能在秋季間上市。

如同先前所提，微軟證實目前已經針對OEM合作夥伴提供Windows 8.1 RTM (Ready to Manufacture)版本，預計秋季即可看見首波搭載Windows 8.1作業系統產品上市。至於已經上市或消費者自行購買安裝的Windows 8、Windows RT，將會在10月18日 (台灣時間10月17日晚間)開放免費下載升級。

新版Windows 8.1主要加入包含「開始」等多項更新，例如整合Bing搜尋、SkyDrive等，同時也將相容用於小尺寸、低解析度螢幕的平板裝置。至於針對Windows RT 8.1部分，則是進一步加入Outlook功能，提昇Windows RT平板實用性。

不過，Windows 8.1釋出是否能進一步吸引消費者使用，可能還是要看後續市場接收度情況。
