針對未來將於市場普及的智慧型穿戴裝置，博通 (Broadcom)針對先前公布的WICED平台宣佈加入Wi-Fi Direct技術，配合先前已經加入的NFC、Bluetooth Smart等通訊功能，將能使OEM廠商更加容易設計旗下產品。

根據博通所公布消息，預計針對旗下WICED (Wireless Internet Connectivity for Embedded Devices)平台宣佈加入Wi-Fi Direct技術，搭配先前已經宣佈整合的NFC、Bluetooth Smart、GPS等功能，將使OEM廠商能更輕易地設計自有智慧型穿戴裝置，並且可與智慧型手機、平板等裝置連動。

就博通方面看法，智慧型穿戴裝置產值預計在2014年達美金15億元，同時2013年底前估計將會有150萬組穿戴式裝置於市場銷售，而2017年估計將有7000萬台銷售量。藉由WICED平台將能讓OEM廠商結合各類型感應元件，進而應用於各類型穿戴裝置，或者應用於數位家電整合，例如智慧型門鎖、運動型攝影機等。
