Deep Silver 今日在德國科隆登場的 Gamescom 遊戲展中，曝光了旗下新款免費制線上戰鬥競技遊戲《死亡之島：傳染病（暫譯，英文原名 Dead Island: Epidemic）》的遊戲畫面，強調為「殭屍線上多人戰鬥競技類型（ZOMBA）」。
Deep Silver 表示，《死亡之島：傳染病》中最多 12 名球員可以組成三或四隊進行競賽，玩家不僅要跟其他玩家對戰，還要跟島上的殭屍來對抗。
Deep Silver 表示，《死亡之島：傳染病》擁有工藝系統，讓玩家可以創造個人的武器庫，屆時將會有上百種的武器、飾品、道具等可讓玩家創造，且一旦打造了一種武器之後，就可以持續進化武器來符合玩家的遊玩風格。
Deep Silver 透露，《死亡之島：傳染病》不同於其他線上戰鬥競技遊戲（MOBA）之處，在於玩法不是要專注在攻擊其他敵對隊伍的基地，主要焦點在於控制點與散落在地圖上的多樣化目標，這樣可以使玩家擁有更加動態的玩法，玩家在線上較勁過程中不斷地調整其焦點，甚至有時候在對戰過程中或許還得跟敵對隊伍組隊以對抗殭屍。
